Dr Black - OC

yay, the first thingie I did in photoshop
I'm still kinda playing around with the tools, trying to figure out my technique and such
so I figured I'd use that improvement-effort to make a character that I've wanted to for a while
you can probably tell that I've become obsessed with plague doctors well before DragonCon where I went as one
really I'm doing this because drawing a generic one over and over will get old fast
and because I might do some animations with this bloke
but anyways, here's the bio n shiz

-backstory-
Dr. Black grew up during the Middle Ages, in the land we now know as France. He was fortunate enough to be born into a wealthy family, which he took advantage of by going through extensive medical education, seemingly just in time as the Bubonic Plague began it's tyrranous journey throughout Europe. Through diligant chemical research in hopes of curing the disease, he supposedly wound up devising a concoction that led to infinite cell reproduction, and thusly immortality. He refuses to share his secrets with anyone, however. Even with his rigorous work, he never did much of anything substantial in the effort against the disease. Sadly, his family was amongst the many to be afflicted and killed by the sickness. Like many people at the time, the calamity and choas was incredibly stressful and saddening. The doc ended up getting addicted to smoking opium as an attempt to relieve his stress. Despite his wisdom and intelligence, he suffers from fits of rage and anguish if he goes more than a few days without his precious drug. He lives on to this day, and is occasionally spotted. Many people across Europe have reported seeing 'a strange dark figure with the face of a raven' in the wilderness, and is typically believed to be aiding the wildlife in some way. In very rare instances, he is seen with other people, usually a short distance away from a hospital. The oddest sighting, however, was when he was seen watching a funeral service a good distance away. A connection between the doctor and this deceased person has yet to be discovered, and he refuses to speak of it himself.
